BE22-GD Bespoke Package: Planning and Planting a Dye Garden
Susan and Ashley have over 15 years experience growing and using Madder, Weld, Woad and Dyer’s Broom, Japanese Indigo and many other dye plants.
In order to continue sharing our knowledge without the need for people to meet face to face, we are offering a package of 1-1 support by phone, post and zoom or skype.
Perhaps you already grow dyeplants but want to increase your yield or extend your range? Or maybe you are a complete beginner starting out and unsure which plants to grow?
Why is this product marked as out of stock? We would love to talk to you before you buy, so we can check your needs and our availability. Below is a description of a typical package, although we are always happy to adapt according to your unique situation.
We ask you to complete a short questionnaire so we can understand your objectives, constraints and resources and what kind of support will suit you best.
We also ask you to provide a sketch and photos of your growing space.
We then send a comprehensive set of handouts and arrange a phone call or zoom/skype session with you to help you plan your next steps.
We will send you seeds and small plants to help you implement the design you have chosen, taking into account where we are in the growing season and any plants you may already have.
It may also be possible for you to collect plants from us in person in Hitchin and have a tour of the the Natures Rainbow dye garden*.
At a time to suit you we provide a follow up zoom session.
Finally we will provide email support through the following month to help with any questions.
If you are a charity, ‘not for profit’ or on a low income, please contact us and we may be able to offer a special price.
What our students have said about our face to face workshops:
“The workshop was great, very practical in giving tips on how to grow the dye plants, being able to see how much space they need and tips on how to grow to give the greatest depth of colour.”
“Ashley’s handouts were great and very informative.”
“Thank you so very much for a brilliant afternoon. I learned loads.”
“Learning about the different plants has been very useful. Having a 1:1 on how to design my space was excellent and I’m all set now to get my dye garden up and running”
“This has been the best worskhop I have ever done. You both work so well together, it was well organised and a great mixture of info/handson. I loved it!”
* We choose not to run a car (and haven’t done so for over 25 years) and we don’t currently drive (Susan would not be safe to do so after all this time!) so … providing consultancy advice at the client’s location is not included in this package.
